In situ synthesis of a novel Mn3O4/g-C3N4 p-n heterostructure photocatalyst for water splitting

Designing high-efficiency photocatalyst for photocatalytic water splitting is a considerable challenge. Herein, new Mn3O4/g-C3N4 p-n heterostructure prepared by an in-situ growth method. The introduction of Mn3O4 can enhance light absorption ability g-C3N4. exhibits outstanding activity hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) efficiency ~2700 ?mol g?1h?1 at ? > 420 nm. For the separate reactions H2 and O2 under simulated sunlight, efficiencies are 3300 654 g?1h?1, respectively. junction also capable catalyzing overall to generate products in stoichiometric molar ratio 2:1. formation electric field promotes electron transfer improves performance.
